A regular yoga practice helps us learn about ourselves. Over time, we re-discover the capacity of our bodies to move well, and of our minds to pay attention. We get better at being present to all aspects of ourselves. If you want to go deeply into the practices of yoga, to work with yourself intelligently, and compassionately, and to find ways of taking yoga off the mat and into daily life, these classes are for you!

Weekly classes run in blocks, roughly corresponding to school terms, with a short break at Christmas and Easter, and during the month of August. You can come and try a class before committing to a block. Please contact me if you would like to do this.

I am offering on-line classes via Zoom, and audio-recordings to help you practise during this time of anxiety, uncertainty, fear and loss. Contact me if you are interested.
All being well, from 17 May, I will re-start hybrid sessions.
A half-hour guided meditation session to begin your week in a positive way. These classes are run on-line, but do let me know if you would like to come and practise in the studio as some places may be available.

This is a friendly class, which meets one Friday evening each month to practise some meditation techniques from the Yoga tradition. Sessions are more in-depth than the Monday morning class and are structured around a particular theme (eg the breath). There is some preparatory movement/breathwork, and time to make notes, share experience and ask questions. The class is suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators.

Dates: 14 May; 11 Jun; 9 Jul; 10 Sept; 8 Oct; 12 Nov; 10 Dec. Continuing again from Jan 2022.
Time: 7.00 - 8.30pm
Cost: £50 for 5 sessions, booked and paid for in advance; £100 for 10 sessions, (with bonus 11th class); £12 per session. Preference given to those who can commit to a minimum of 5 sessions.

Cost: £110 for a block of 10, which you can spread out over 12 weeks; £12 for a trial class.
There are three weekly classes in Stroud.
The Monday class has been running since September 2012, and is particularly suitable for students who have not done much yoga before, or who are looking for a fresh approach.
The Wednesday classes - the earlier class has run since September 2015, and is suitable for students with a year or more of experience.
The later class has been running since September 2010, and is an intermediate/advanced class, suitable for students who have done at least 2 years of regular yoga practice.

Weekly Women's class - Moving with Change

Cost: £15 for a trial session; £72 for 6 classes with one flexible session (these are 2-hour sessions)
For many years I taught weekly group classes for Pregnancy Yoga and Postnatal (Mum/Baby) Yoga. I no longer run these, instead I offer individual and couple sessions, and dedicated Birth Preparation sessions.

Cost: normally £40/45 for a 60/75 minute 1:1 session, less for a series of classes booked and paid for together.
This includes a recording of what we do so you can practise at home.
For a Birth Preparation session for you and a partner, the cost is £70 for a 2.5 hour session, or £50 if part of a group session, including hand-outs and recordings to take home.
Individual classes on a one-off or on-going basis. Yoga is an inherently therapeutic practice, and individual sessions can be very helpful if you cannot make it to a regular class, or have specific needs you would like to address.
I have taught one-to-one sessions to a wide range of individuals, including those with persistent pain (especially back pain), fybromyalgia, cancer, MS, preparation and recovery from surgery, pelvic floor weakness after childbirth, anxiety, depression, and terminal illness.
I also offer individual yoga classes specifically for women trying to conceive, during pregnancy, and for postnatal recovery.
1:1 sessions are for 1 hour, or 75 minutes. I generally suggest starting with a 75-minute session to give us unhurried time for an initial discussion of your needs.
A one-hour session costs £45, and 75 minutes costs £50.

This will be a year-long Course for Women, over 6 Saturdays in 2022. We will draw on the wisdom of Yogic and western psychology to explore perspectives on major transitions in our lives and rites of passage. The pandemic has been a time of collective upheaval, though our individual experiences will be varied and personal. The course will be particularly suitable if you are looking to re-establish a sense of community, or are going through a major life change such as the menopause, a child leaving home, a career change or retirement, a new relationship or a divorce, the death of a loved one, or moving towards your own death.
We will use practices of yoga asana, breath, meditation & visualisation, mantra and deep relaxation (yoga nidra).
We will use the cycles of nature to guide us - seasonal and lunar - and our connection with the elements we find both in the natural world and our inner experience of ourselves.
There will be time to be alone, as well as time to share in a circle, and time to connect with each other informally. The space will be safely held.
There will be a maximum of 12 women (and a minimum of 6).

These days are practical, centred on a theme and responsive to the group. I always aim to make the days enjoyable and relevant, and to use a balance of asana, pranayama, yoga nidra, and meditation.
There is also be time for reflection and discussion and, weather permitting, some time to be outside in nature.

Theme: Yoga for the stillness and depth of Inner Winter

During winter, the Earth's energy is withdrawn back into herself: plants rest, animals hibernate, the light has retreated and the weather is often cold. It is a time of being grounded, internalised and still.
Working with this seasonal rhythm, we will use the wisdom of yogic perspective to help us stay healthy and warm in the depths of winter. The stillness and heaviness of winter is a wonderful time to practise stillness of mind. We will balance the quiet practices of meditation and yoga nidra with some dynamic movement to help keep lethargy and sluggishness at bay, and spend some time outside (weather permitting), to help us remember we are part of this larger life cycle.
The day will also include time for discussion and personal reflection, and some tips from Ayurveda for self-care during the winter months. It is a day for women only - those who are part of the 2022 Women's Group will be given priority.
